and will use a Foredom flexible shaft drill to lightly grind area before we try welding it. I have to wash down the area inside and vent off etc. I can weld but he is soo much better at it. I will have to construct wooden "guides" to hold rod to precise area but I know a real good welding guy who has helped me before on other projects who when snow is gone will come over and help out. and I can get a welding rod directly to the offending place. I have taken the side plate off on opposite side of that transmission area. So that means it is stuck in reverse till I fix it. By getting my eyeball up close and no glasses I can see the shaft rotate when shift lever is moved. The parts book shows a bolt head also it seems but there is no evidence of that.just remains of a weld. the weld that holds the fork to the shaft is no good. Where the fork that moves the gears to forward or reverse attaches to the. We found the problem.at least we think we have. Just last week I managed through a friend to have him borrow a scope. When I can rig up a mirror or find a "scope" to see better I can tell if rod is inyoke where it should be according to parts schematic. My shuttle shift lever is through the floor panel to my right and linkage goes in the right side of the casting.down low. My hyd fluid dipstick is to the right of it. lI have a small plate on the top of the tranmission just in front of my seat.about 4 " square. I removed the floor mat and removed the tunnel cover to view part of transmisson top.
